Fulfilling Stories - Patient (Traditional)

Series: Fulfilling Stories

Kalas gives two main points to this parable: 1) God is in charge, and ultimately he is the one who determines wheat and weeds—it is premature to make that judgment now, and it is not our judgment to make in the first place; 2) Be awake, lest the enemy gain ground while we are spiritually “sleeping.”  (Of these, I’m not sure if #2 actually fits the biblical context, but #1 is certainly valid).  In these times of struggle, it is common and valid to ask God questions of “why.”  Sometimes, the short answer is that it is the work of the enemy—we live in a spiritual war zone, a world cataclysmically broken by conflict.  However, God is still in charge, and the war has been decisively won in the cross, empty tomb, and ascension.  So, we are called to be a people of patience.  Only God truly knows what will stand the test of eternal time and the refining fire of judgment.  Be a people of patience.
